Halloween Safety

Halloween is on Thursday this year but both Renton and Kent School districts have Friday, Nov 1st off. Hopefully you don't get trick-or-treaters too late this year because of it! Will you be home handing out candy or will you be away for the evening? Here are some tips on making this Halloween as safe and fun as possible for everyone!

· Hold your child’s hand

· Carry flashlights, lanterns, reflectors, wear Glo sticks

· Handwarmers, if the weather turns quickly

· Trick-or-Treat houses on one side of the street first (instead of zig zagging across the street)

· Keep porch and/or house lights off if no one is home or if you run out of candy

· Stay off your cell phones if you are operating a vehicle

· Do not drive more than 10MPH in the neighborhood during dusk (just as it gets dark) through 9PM, or when pedestrians are visibly present

Remember to always take extra, extra precaution when driving on this spooooky night, whether it is in our neighborhood or not; there will be many children out when it is dark and difficult to see. DRIVE SLOW, LOOK CAREFULLY.

Lastly, the Halloween decorations and light show are up at the Shattucks’! The show starts everyday at 3PM and doesn’t stop until 10PM! Come push the button and listen to the music coming from the speakers in the lawn as the lights move to the rhythm of each song. If it’s too far to walk, drive on over and tune your radio to 101.1 as you blast the heat and enjoy the show. Whichever way you prefer to see it, enjoy! Just be mindful to not block any of the driveways whilst enjoying. Address is 15437 139th Ave SE.

Fall Dumpsters

Back by popular demand! We will be ordering 2 dumpsters this fall as we heard you really liked having the opportunity to throw away those really bulky items and clearing out your yard. The location of the dumpsters will be flipped flopped this time around with the yard waste dumpster being set at 139th Ave SE (where the trash dumpster was in the Spring) and the trash dumpster being set on SE 158th St (near the upper entrance). - Dumpster Guidelines:

  - Please ensure that items are placed in the appropriate dumpster labeled for its purpose.

  - Kindly refrain from overfilling the dumpsters to allow space for everyone's waste.

  -Items not allowed:

• bulbs

• batteries
