Neighbors-
As you may know, Puget Sound Energy is not expecting to recover electrical power to our area until Saturday (11/23) evening. If you are staying at home during this time and without a generator, please follow the guidance below on foods needing to be refrigerated or frozen.
During a power outage, refrigerated food stays safe for up to 4 hours, according to the USDA. Perishables like meat, eggs, and leftovers should be discarded after that time. A full freezer can preserve food for 48 hours, while a half-full freezer lasts up to 24 hours. Using a cooler with ice or gel packs can extend storage by keeping temperatures at or below 40°F. Stay safe and warm everyone. Never hesitate to reach out to a neighbor for help!
